Hi Mike,
It is funny, I was just recently thinking of how to adapt a 35mm, 70mm
or 2 1/4 mm film transport into a 4x5 or 8x10 camera for panoramic
pictures.... I have seen this camera at camera shows or it might have
been a similar one but have never studied it. The camera I had seen was a
special 3D camera with 4 lenses in a row set up... They were very well
made but were made of plastic.. The price was like $35 or so... .
I think it is a great idea . ... If you can adapt this camera it
would eliminate the hassle of trying to create a span or spacer for a
panoramic format as well as the gearing to advance the film......
It sounds to me like your going to have to do surgery. and will
probably end up loosing the first camera trying to figure things out...
..... They probably have the internal lock fingers that snap into place when
the camera was assembled. , and or were glued or molded in place. These
cameras were probably designed never to be serviced except by the
manufacturer....
If you decide to make it a 4x5 assessory the spacing for the film
plane is always critical in relation to the ground glass and this will have
to be a consideration in your back as well.
... I recently seen a interesting 35 mm back for a Polaroid MP4. It
was mounted to a Graphlock insert plate so it could be mounted on a
Graphlock back and it had a dark slide on it.
Please keep us updated .. This is a very interesting project!
Regards,
John Cremati
