I am writing this message because I have a feature suggestion that I would like to see included in a browser by default. What follows is a brief description:
A few years back I wrote a plugin to Internet Explorer which put a new button on the toolbar called the "Cycle" button. It's purpose was to load the next site from a list of sites that I specified. I wrote it because I constantly found myself visiting the same 8 or 9 sites all the time, usually news sites to catch up on the latest happenings. I got tired of typing in the URL or hunting through favorites and just wanted a button that would load the next site with a single click. It was all about convenience, and bridged the gap between favorites and the address bar. I then wrote a separate app to manage the list of sites that it cycled between as their wasn't any decent hooks for integrating this functionality into the browser itself.
In any case, I found this button to be really useful and wondered why no one had ever done it before (properly integrated into the browser itself). However, shortly after writing it I ditched windows for Linux and the project went by the wayside. A few months ago I bought my first Mac and now run Mac OS X and Linux exclusively. The attention to interface details and ease of use has really blown me away, along with it being exceptional as a development platform.
I just took a look at some screen shots of the latest nightly build and my old idea popped back into my head. This is a feature that I believe could really distinguish Camino from other browsers (as most of them just rehash the same ideas) so I am writing this list to see if there is any interest in including something like this. If so, I think I could find time to assist in its development.
As an aside, I'm not sure "Cycle" is the best term. Maybe some synonym like Habit or Routine, I don't know. I'd appreciate it if the list would let me know their thoughts. I am open to ideas and discussion.
