I'm running 2004022508 and see no issue. I'm on 10.3.2 if it helps.
I am on an italian keyboard (bug reproduceable both on an extended Apple Pro keyboard and an iBook G4 keyboard).
I tried setting the input to a US keyboard and was able to type the @ sign using shift-2
But. Here in Europe we have to use the option key to type the same sign. That is probably the catch. I'm going to file a bug now.
