Does anyone agree with me that a close button on the left and left-aligned tabs might be a good idea?
I agree with your first point: if we have to have a close widget at all (see my earlier post!) then Mac conventions suggest that this should be to the left. It would seem to have been moved to the right merely to maintain the 'graphic - text - graphic' symmetry the tab. I note that in the new screenshots, that symmetry has also been maintained, with the favicon and close widget switched around -- also breaking with established conventions. Personally, I see no reason for this symmetry. I see nothing wrong with two widget sitting side by side, to the left of the title text.
As for the tabs being left-aligned... no, I don't like it. I much prefer Camino's current methods over Safari's. Centre-alignment sets the tabs nicely apart from other screen clutter, er.. I mean features. :)
