Well, I guess, I'll email the PathFinder team instead. I reckon
chances much higher of them responding positively to such a request
than the Mother Ship herself :D

It might be a simple tweak, but not for Camino. Drag sources put
data on the pasteboard, and drag targets determine what to do with
the pasteboard data; Camino has no ability to control what Finder
does with URL data, so you'd have to file your request with Apple.
