First, you need to be sure you're dragging the Camino application icon to the correct folder: Macintosh HD/Applications
If this still doesn't work you can try running Disk Utility - Repair Permissions to resolve the issue. This application is found in Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. You'll also want to check in the System Preference pane Accounts and be certain your account has Administrative privileges, which it sounds as though you do if you're able to run Software Update. You can check permissions on the drive and / or Application folder by selecting it and pressing Command(Apple key)+I. At the bottom of the window that opens you'll see something to the effect of Sharing & Permissions depending on your operating system. As an admin account you should have Read & Write access to the Applications folder. I'll take a guess and say you're running 10.4 on that machine; you can find this out by selecting the Apple Menu at the top left of your screen and choosing About This Mac. For 10.4 you can change the permissions following this article. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh669.html On Jun 17, 2008, at 1:40 AM, Cooper Family wrote: > Hello, > > Thanks in advance for your help! > > I have a 12" Mac G4 powerbook 1.5. > > I am new to Mac's and am in need of some help please. > > Also I am no computer wiz. > > When I try to install the Camino update my Mac says: > > "Camino does not have permission > to write to the application's directory!
