BT has provoked one of the biggest rows seen in the UK broadband
industry for quite some time by suddenly raising the price of many
of its wholesale ADSL products.

The move poses serious problems for many Internet service providers.
Put their retail prices up and they risk losing customers. Absorb
the increase themselves and they risk going bust. 70 ISPs have ganged
together to oppose the rises.

But why did BT bring them in at all? Well, it appears that Ofcom
is about to rule that these products have been priced unfairly
cheaply. This has made it much harder for rival telcos to compete with
BT.

Ofcom hasn't announced its ruling yet, but it's expected soon. Watch
out for fireworks in the weeks ahead.
