He was an older gentleman and I could tell he was from the Hawkeye State because he was wearing about 50 pins that said as much. He told me he was having a nice time in New York so far and that the people have all been very civil. I asked him what part of the state he was from and he told me the eastern half near the Mississippi river. "Why, are you familiar with Iowa's geography?" he asked. "Um. No. It's square," I said, quickly adding "as in its shape, not the people."
