Hi Nelayan,

The 8/31/04 Issue of Michael Herman's Working * At * Home Gazette.

  ---------------------------------------------------------------

I went with my son to a outdoor movie his school had this past
weekend.

It was "Finding Nemo".

I think I've seen it 8 or 9 times now.

It's a great movie, but the best part was being there with my
son and watching him play with his friends.

The next morning I checked my e-mail and found that a few sales
had been made.

Not bad!

I was able to enjoy the evening with my son and yet I still had
made some sales and had income.

Income... whether I'm there or not!

So let's get back to business and let me share with you some
things I have learned.

It may be of assistance to you in work * at * home.

I other day I heard from Jason Potash who was talking about
Ad Copy.

Ad Copy is very important no matter what business you are in.

It really doesn't matter if it is ONline or OFFline.

I'm sure you've heard it before, "what ever you do in life, you
are selling, even if you aren't in sales".

Selling a product, selling a service, have an affiliate business,
have a non-profit organization, or asking for donations for a
charity.

What Jason talked about was 7 Copywriting Secrets.

Not really SECRETS... more like "Important Things to Remember
When Writing Ad Copy"

1. Headlines

Have many of them sprinkled throughout what you are writing.

Most people skim. If your 1st headline is good and interesting
   they'll read the next one.

If all of your headlines are good and pushes the "hot buttons"
of the reader, they'll read more of your ad, or article.

   Important characteristics of Headline.

=> Get your readers attention, focus on a niche or a target
market. Not everyone will be interested in your headline.

    Don't try to attract everyone!

 2. Use Simple and Specific Words

Write to a 6th grade level.

Keep it short, up beat and a personal style of writing.

And be as specific as you can, don't be vague. Some people
    may understand, but most won't

3. Get to THE Point

Most people are busy and don't have time to read things that
   don't interest them.

Tell them why it should interest them.

REMEMBER people ask "what's in it for me".

 4. Don't be afraid to use Long Copy

As long as you have attention getting headlines and sub-
    headlines .

You'll get the reader down the page to your order button, or
    to your Most Wanted Response.

Your Most Wanted Response (MWR) may be to get their e-mail
address, or to have them make a donation to your charity.
Your MWR doesn't have to be a sale.

 5. Tell them Why!

    Why are you writing?

    Why should they read it?

    Why should they buy it?

    Why are you doing this?

Why are your having a special?

Tell them specifically, "you're having a special this week
because your daughter is graduating and you need the cash".

Have you heard the phase "tell me WHY then I'll buy"?

6. Double Readership Path

People are reading, skimming over your headlines and sub-
   headlines.

IF they are still interested, they'll read the entire ad, or
   the entire article.

7. You MUST Overcome Skepticism of Hype

We've all seen it, there is A LOT of HYPE on the Internet.

Tips for getting started

1. Study successful web sites & entrepreneurs,

2. Start your own Swipe file - learn how the experts, your
   competitors, grab the customer's attention.

Do some espionage and review other web sites.

   What's working for them?

3. Read everything you can, even junk mail, and see what grabs your
   attention.
