NOBOSS UPDATE: Global Economy Sparks New '05 NOBOSS BizPlan

PREFACE: Earlier this year we touted Tom Peters new best seller
book "RE-IMAGINING" to all NOBOSS members as an important
thought-starter deserving of their attention.

At that time, we'd not caught-on to the one core issue that we at
NOBOSS Inc. were overlooking.

It is the classic forest-for-the-trees situation. Here we were
telling 100,000+ members to consider 're-imagining' their home
business while we paid only cursory attention to our own advice.

YOU'LL SEE IT ALL in our Editorial this issue: SNEAK PREVIEW -'05
AND i-NOBOSS... and to add some meat to the table we're kicking
the concept off with the new emphasis on current events -- the
NOBOSS NEWSBriefs section of our Update ezines along with the new
NEWSBriefINTERNATIONAL WATCH section just published.

It's really quite simple. While you may well be running your
business out of your home -- your potential marketing effort is
now international in scope -- and so what happens in Sri Lanka
could be meaningful to you in Toledo (or wherever you may live).
PS: and vice versa.

Plus, addressing those millions of employed Americans who are
justifiably concerned about maintaining their jobs and hope to
launch a back-up part time home based business, we recently
launched a PR campaign to focus attention on an impartial NOBOSS
resource to guide you through all of the biased hype-and-hoopla
provided from opportunity sources. Catch it at:

In addition, we've opted to give up our Top Story position to
Harmony Major who addresses one of the most aggravating issues a
homepreneur faces in her new article "e-Mails Not Getting
Answered? Shhhh! Here's Why..." -- and much, much more in todays
NOBOSS Update issue (see below)

* > EDITORIAL: SNEAK PREVIEW -'05 AND i-NOBOSS
=================================================
NOBOSS COMMENT: Tom Peters bestseller "Re-imagine! Business
Excellence in a Disruptive Age" is our inspiration to select one
fundamental idea and translate it to address the needs and
interests of our home-based business constituency.
------------

In addition to the potential for expanded marketing (as discussed
in our Preface above) -- we are in the process of recognizing
that there are plenty of other global issues that can be very
meaningful to home-biz entrepeneurs in the U.S. and around the
world.

Home-based business, expecially (but not limited to) 'online'
biz's are thriving in Europe, South America, Asia -- and it only
makes sense that there are universal truths and events happening
in opposite ends of the earth that can be adopted OR that have
major impact IF we've got the sense to spot it and use it.

One example -- the cel phone.

Anyone with an eye to what was going on in Japan -- years before
the cel phone became an indispensable device in the states --
might have positioned their businesses to somehow participate in
that phenomena. Sure -- this makes no sense for the home-biz who
sells 'jumpers' at birthday bashes or store openings... the
point, however, is that ALL our members need to be positioned to
spot the trends so they at least have a chance to integrate them
in their biz-plans.

Just as the unprecedented 'globalization' of the worlds
economy due to the spiraling effect of innovation
and technology is impacting the international workforce -- the
emerging growth of new, exciting, highly profitable individual
home-based businesses is a major force that crosses all the old
and provincial national borders.

In recognition of the emergence of this truly global economy,
NOBOSS is in the process or morphing from its decade old (1995)
essentially national focus on domestic (U.S.) home-biz
issues to encompass the worldwide market that ALMOST every
individual homepreneur can access from their desktop PC.

Which is why we are now in the process of revising ourselves to
become "i-NOBOSS" (The new "inter-National Organization of
Business Opportunity Seekers and Active Home-Based Entrepreneurs")
... which requires us to inject a brand new 'look- and-feel' to
our Website, our ezines and our services.

It also means that if you are currently active in ANY home-biz
and are not seriously looking at the potential value of expanding
your vision to the huge global audience available to you -- you
are likely missing a massive opportunity for additional profit.

To be formally launched in early 2005, the bits-and-pieces of
i-NOBOSS are now just coming together. Over the next several
issues we will continue to bring you insights into our expanded
vision and explain in detail what it means to you... and how you
can best take advantage of it.

So stick with us as we turn our original NOBOSS into i-NOBOSS...
and see us jump through the hoops -- as just by watching us turn our
attention to the potential of a home-business involved in global
marketing -- it may spark that idea (or two) that can work for YOU.

=======================================================
*> Top Story: e-Mails Not Getting Answered? Shhhh! Here's Why...
=======================================================

Copyright 2004 Harmony Major

Let's face it -- none of us like to be ignored. But sending
an e-mail to a colleague that commits even ONE of these
four cardinal sins can mean the difference between a speedy
reply ... and that big e-mail receptacle bin in the sky. :-/

Here are four common reasons why YOUR mail could be going
"the way of the spam", and how to reverse them to get your
messages answered -- and answered *fast*:

1. "Can you hear me now? Durn! Can you hear me now? Frick!
Can you hear me now? Cripes! Can you...?"

Follow-up e-mails are okay, and quite necessary during
these times of overzealous spam filtering. But for the love
of all things good and holy ... please give your recipient
a reasonable amount of time to answer the FIRST message
FIRST!

If you haven't waited *at least* 24 hours -- particularly
on a first contact -- you haven't waited long enough.
People do have to take care of lives, and spouses, and
hunger pangs, and bathing, and... (well okay, maybe not
those last two if we're in a REAL pinch ;)).

2. Please, God ... *NO* HTML!

It still boggles my mind how many people ignore this rule.

HTML mail comes to about *twice the size* of plain text
mail with equal content. If your recipient can set their
mail to skip downloading messages over a certain size, and
that size is set low, your e-mail will be cut off in
mid-message.

This means the recipient then has to make an extra effort
to retrieve YOUR message from the server.

(Annoyance #1.)

And people who send HTML mail seem to always choose a
bright blue(??!) hyperlink-colored font that's WAY too tiny
for the average eye to read. Umm...

WHY?!

Just about anything other than Courier New is GUARANTEED to
be hard to read in some e-mail programs -- and it's usually
blind luck that your recipient will HAVE one of those with
this problem.

(Annoyance #2.)

And don't even get me started on the odd "glow" blue text
has when plopped on a white background ... please?

3. "NO, Mommy! I don't WANNA read an ezine!"

It's inconsiderate to send ezine length e-mails to business
people -- period.

You're almost guaranteeing that your mail won't be fully
read, or that you'll get a half-a**ed reply, because the
reader didn't feel like wading through your verbosity to
get to the goods.

"Ezine length" is generally about 9 kilobytes (9k) and
above. You can usually tell how large an e-mail is before
sending by checking its size in your mail program's outbox.
If not, for your reference, 9k is about 650 words. (Yeesh!)

Unless the recipient is *expecting* a long reply from you,
3k (200 words) is a good stopping point for a first contact.

NOTE: YES, this goes for personal e-mails too. Being
"friends" with someone isn't license to consistently
disrespect their time with mammoth e-mails unless they send
the same to you -- consistently.

So, no saying the same thing 8 killion different ways, or
using "flowery" language and "pretty" mental pictures to
get your point across.

Just say it, say something else and for Heaven's sake ...
KEEP IT MOVING.

4. Umm, seriously ... is it really THAT important?

Ugh. Do I really need to explain this one? People who mark
ALL of their messages High Priority remind me of the little
dude who cried wolf, if you know what I mean.

When I consistently see these from the same people all the
time, I start ignoring the priority and answering them LAST
in a mail check, just to spite 'em.

Granted, not everyone is as crazy as me and will do this.
But at the very least, you're still hurting your chances of
getting a reply to *seriously* urgent messages quickly, by
abusing priority markers.

Commit the above shameful offenses at your own risk!

******> PARENTPRENEUR CORNER: The Time Management Dilemma
=======================================================
While this single issue is important to everyone -- for the
active home-based Parentpreneur juggling the demands of kids
along with household under a single roof, the challenge of 'time
management' becomes, perhaps, THE most critical skill that will
ultimately decide who 'wins' the war and who does not.

And, the key to making it happen in real-time is usually one of
the intelligent ability to 'prioritize'.

OK -- without question Family is #1 and your home-based business
is #2. That, by itself, is NOT a problem. However, IF your Family
absolutely requires 99% of your time -- forget the home-biz.

On the other hand, if you can carve out 2 hours a day or 10 to 20
hours a week (or more) -- then there is no good reason why you
cannot earn significant money from home PROVIDED you can
'control' your work-time.

To this end, we found several websites that specialize in helping
you to most effectively manage your time -- none are specific to
the parentpreneur... but each may be well worth a look:

http://www.thinktq.com/

http://ianrpubs.unl.edu/homemgt/nf174.htm

http://www.businesstown.com/time/time.asp

Your best intentions can easily be sabotaged without the active
support of your involved family. So -- before you make your time
committments, make sure you have enlisted their enthusiastic
support.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: Items below often link to independent
online pages (outside of NOBOSS) that carry very long text-
strings... and these often wrap-around and lose the convenience
of a hotlink where you can just click and go to the information.
In that case, you simply Cut & Paste the entire string into your
browser.

Note: items appearing in Newsbriefs are current events. If a
hotlink should not be active, realize that sometimes these do
disappear after just a few days

* Sri Lanka Reins in On Pyramid Schemes
. ----------------------------------
. While the home biz snakes still occasionally pop up in the U.S.
(just as corporate snakes ala Enron can never be totally
eliminated) -- emerging economies are rife with this kind of
abuse. The statements from the President of Sri Lanka regarding
this predatory type home-biz is a worthwhile read for us all.

NOBOSS COMMENT: tie this one in with the comment under Domestic
Watch (below) about Gas Up USA -- and think about why you need
options when working a home-based biz.

* Home Based Businesses Focus Of Jeddah Expo
. ------------------------------------------
. Arab News, the Middle East's Leading English Language Daily
reports on the second Saudi Working Women Exhibition to be held
in Jeddah in September. "It will also be a chance for women who
work from their homes to deomonstrate and distribute their
products... first event about the importance of home-based
businesses (snip) because they reduce unemployment, help women
achieve their ambitions and solve the transportation problem for
them."

NOBOSS COMMENT: It's exciting (to us) to realize we are all on
the cutting edge of a true international trend... and it suggests
the potential we all have to export our expertise to the benefit
of others and potential profit for ourselves.

Not to overkill, but as NOBOSS turns into i-NOBOSS and our focus
becomes international -- our market for subscribers has grown
exponentially -- see what we mean?

* USANA Ranks Number Nine in Business Weeks Top 100
. ------------------------------------
. A press release just distributed by USANA Health Services
points out that its very high rating in Business Weeks top 100
small growth companies was NOT featured in the biz-press...
probably because of the nature of its distribution system. The
release suggests, however, that USANA, and companies like it,
could represent the wave of the future.

* Attorney General Exonerates Dalius and Gas Up USA
. -------------------------------
. In almost perfect juxtaposition to the Sri Lanka article noted
above, the "Gas Up USA" story that just broke is an interesting
issue for all domestic U.S. homepreneurs to consider.

Gas Up USA created a huge flap when it launched a year or so ago
-- and the large numbers of individuals who signed onto represent
the program that proported to save consumers dollars are the pump
was dramatic.

That was until the Kansas Attorney Generals office called it an
"illegal pyramid scheme".

Well, long after the fact and after those individuals who signed
up had lost dollars, time, interest and energy -- the
Pennsylvania Attorney General -- after a years investigation and
tens of thousands of public dollars has set the record straight.

And it appears there was a villian in the story -- but it was, of
all things, a bank involved in the program and not the founder/
promoters. So it may not have been the concept at all... and
certainly not the fault of biz-op seekers who jumped onto the
program thinking it could be a winner.

Moral of this story: #1 none of us are immune to biz-op disasters
... and #2 all is not always as it seems... and #3 under the
BEST of circumstances, it is always wise to have more than one
home-biz 'cause you never want to rely on just one supplier.
