and video onto IP telephony platforms and Virtual Private
Networks, enterprises can supply bandwidth when and where end

Today's focus: Fresh wireless innovations at DEMOmobile, Part 2

By Keith Shaw

Here are a few more cool mobile products that made their debut
at the DEMOmobile show in La Jolla, Calif., last week:

* GoodLink 3.0
 <http://www.good.com/>

Good Technology has been making strides in the enterprise mobile
e-mail market. Version 3.0 of GoodLink supports smart phones,
providing a synchronized connection to Microsoft Exchange Server
and other applications.

* Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset
 <http://www.logitech.com/>

Logitech's Bluetooth headset includes the Bluetooth 1.2 chipset,
and is designed to be lighter, offer more comfort and reduces
noise interference. The device uses Logitech's WindStop
technology, which aims to reduce noise in windy conditions. The
headset claims to offer seven hours of continuous talk time and
up to 300 hours of standby time, and includes a call/answer
button on the headset.

* Wi-Fi TV
 <http://www.onairentertainment.com/>

Sometime in the not-so-distant future, you'll be able to go to a
wireless hot spot, turn on the laptop and watch some TV. OnAir
Entertainment is delivering a media server to hot spot providers
(including airports, train stations, hotels, convention centers,
planes, etc.) that lets users watch live satellite or cable
television and video-on-demand content over a Wi-Fi connection.
Users can also download music, movies and games through the
system.

* Skype for Pocket PC
 <http://www.skype.com/>

If you've ever tried Skype's PC-based VoIP telephony service,
you'll be happy to know that the company has come out with a
version for the Pocket PC. Using a Wi-Fi-enabled Pocket PC, you
will be able to make voice calls from the device. The
application uses the same core features as the regular Skype
software, including free Skype-to-Skype worldwide calling, free
Skype conference calling, instant messaging, online presence,
contact lists and calls to landline and mobile telephone
numbers. For the road warrior looking to get away from mobile
phone roaming charges, this is worth a look.

* WOW Smart Pad
 <http://www.workonce.com/>

Anyone who remembers the IBM/Cross SmartPad, which looked like a
notebook pad but actually recorded a person's handwriting
electronically, will want to check out the WOW Smart Pad from
Work Once Wireless. The Smart Pad is a system for processing
forms that lets users simply and rapidly capture data through
paper forms, while also providing benefits of electronic
collection and data processing.

In addition to the 10 products we've highlighted in this week's
newsletters, there were a bunch of other products launched at
the DEMOmobile show - head to
<http://www.idgexecforums.com/demomobile2/> to see the entire
list.
