The ADO.NET DataSet is a very powerful object that mimics the behavior of a relational database in many ways. One of the more useful and little-known capabilities is the ability to create and navigate relationships among tables. This week I take a look at creating and navigating DataRelations. Next week I'll expand on that a bit with a discussion of data column expressions.
Although XML is a great way to store and manipulate data, it's hardly easy to read unless you're really into that kind of thing. Even people who are familiar with XML documents have a difficult time envisioning the structure of the data just from looking at the raw XML. There is a solution. In his article Creating a Tree View of XML Data in Visual Studio .NET, author John Mueller shows how to display XML data in a TreeView, which does a very good job of showing the hierarchical nature of the data.
