In my effort to keep you all up-to-date, some folks may get letters from me twice. My apology. You may pass along any of my letters to anyone you feel would have interest. Let's touch all the people we can, and hopefully stimulate the adoption or the support of people who adopt. There are too many orphans.

Walt sent another note. I have attached it here. He refers to Heather in
the note. She is the Chinese language teacher where Walt, Sarah & Zoey have
been learning Chinese. Heather stated that HUGGING is not a cultural thing
in China and therefore Xiao Yu's response to hugging would be culturally
appropriate.

Paula,

We did a lot of paperwork today. Went to meet caretakers etc... Then we
got notary done. Nest was police station. There was a big mistake on the
adoption certification document. In Chinese, they had written that I was
from Canada. Jeesh, gimme a break. I don't know how that mix up happened.
So, now we will have to go back I guess (once it is fixed).

At noon, we all (the Richardson's too) went to the local mall. Shopping and
lunch. We ate at MCD and it was funny to watch everybody try to order.
They did our order exactly right though. We went on to find clothes. No
luck at first. I believe Xaio Yu feels guilt about me buying her clothes or
anything. She was very apprehensive about buying anything. We finally got
out of the mall and went to a couple off the street stores. Good prices and
decent clothes. So far, she has a zip up coat (cute), two long sleeve
shirts, two pair of pants, some socks, underwear, and a pair of shoes. I
also got her a bracelet. She must feel overwhelmed.

Thank Heather for me on the hugging tip. I want so badly to just squeeze
her and give her a kiss. I keep thinking that she is starved for affection.
Now that I know it is cultural, I can relax. She does continue to hold
Zoey's hand when walking the streets. She has been helpful with talking to
people, but of course I still understand so little. The ladies in the
stores either think I'm cute for trying or I am completely embarrassing
myself at times. I am getting better. Dad has been good. He is just
amazed by the people and driving. We got cabs by ourselves today. It was
fun to see if we could get to where we wanted and back. Obviously it
worked. I really enjoy the chaos in the streets. Cab rides are my
favorite.

As far as pictures, I will not be able to download any because I would have
to install software on the computer. They will not let me do this. I'll
keep trying. Any suggestions? Yes, I bought a camera. Rick bought a
camera and I really liked it. So I bought one like it. Very affordable and
great pictures. The movie snippets are a favorite. We are snapping lots of
pics.

The girls want to go swimming. We forgot to find a suit for Xaio Yu. The
other does not fit. As far as her size, I don't know if the translation
from Chinese to USA size is the same. I will see what size she is. She
weighs the same as Zoey. I'd say they are very close in height, build and
weight. Xaio Yu may be a bit taller. Got to go. Good job on the editing.
I'm writing fast to keep it under half hour charges.

Sarah and Zoey are doing great. The Richardson's are good people, very down
to earth. You would like them.

Bye,

Love you,

Walt
