Norton Personal Firewall 2005
Norton Personal Firewall is a good source of protection, whether you
have an always-on connection, or dial-in occasionally. The program
alerts you of any unauthorized attempts to access your computer, and
it automatically stops the probe. As an extra measure of protection,
you can limit which applications access the Internet. You can also use
this program to block Java applets, ActiveX controls, and cookies on a
site-by-site basis; similarly, you can keep Web servers from
retrieving your e-mail address or other information without your
knowledge. Home Network Assistant automatically detects local systems,
and an exclusive firewall automatic firewall application sets up
common firewall rules. It also blocks confidential information in AOL
and MSN instant messenger applications.
In this version, the firewall turns itself back on after a period of
being shut down. This protects your system from remaining unguarded
for a prolonged period of time.
