Since your computer is down I'll give you a rundown here on the procedure. It's on my website in my signature line. You cannot do this from the inside. The window frame has to come out. You do not drill the rivets out either. You use a chisel and a hammer and knock the heads of the rivets. Next is the vertical bar that is on the inside edge of the window toward the center window. You use a small wood block and a hammer and knock it up and it slides out of the channel that holds the two windows together. With that done, the window frame will come off with a little help of a putty knife sliding under the frame. There are two screws on the straight frame segment that will come off and allow a new piece of lexan to slide in place. Use a piece of cardboard to make a template until your satisfied that the shape will work then transfer it to the lexan. Most lexan pieces only have one side treated to be in the sunlight so keep that in mind when your making your cuts. After you have the new lexan secured into the frame you need to prep the trailer opening. On the trailer you will have many rivet stumps left from where you knocked the heads off. What you want to do now is use a rotary tool to cut them flush with the skin. Spread a good amount of vulkem around the opening to seal it. Now take your frame and set it in place. Use the reverse procedure of the wood block and hammer and knock the edge channel back down to hold the window in place. Now use the drill bit just big enough for the Olympic rivet to pre drill some holes using the existing holes in the frame as your guide. Put a dab vulkem on each rivet as you put them in. They use a standard rivet gun. Continue until all rivets are replaced. Use some mineral spirits to clean up and your done. > What makes the Olmpic rivets worth the wait? Olympic rivets provide a very strong joint when compared to a standard rivet as they spread apart when tightened much like a drywall anchor does. Always use the washerless type and add your own vulkem. You can do all this for probably $30 total for both windows. -Tim www.ldservice.com/tim/tim To unsubscribe from this group, go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/AirstreamList/ and unsubscribe.
