... ... Oh, if this were an ideal world where teenagers never lied or mislead
their parents ! I'm sorry, but you may need to smell more coffee. Teenagers
lie and deceive, that is the nature of adolescence. Anyone who says they
never lied or deceived their parents probably need a CAT scan. The issue here
is not whether they will lie or try to deceive you but about what. And in
todays computer using and abusing generation ( remembering, of course, that
all sorts of wierdos prey on their ignorance ) their mistakes can be ... -

"The dreaded red X"? I'm guessing that has something to do with the control
being loaded from a webpage in IE? I've never done that, and I'm not sure
whether this will be relevant, but WinXP SP2 changes download behavior in IE
radically, blocking or warning about various downloads. If the control is not
signed that might be a problem. ... That could be. According to my (
somewhat dated) copy of MSDN, the PDW does not automatically add dependent
controls when packaging a control CAB....easy enough to check, though.... -

How is it possible to search for a substring inside a string in Visual Basic 6?
In VB.NET you would use say stringToSearch.IndexOf(substringToFind) Is this
method also available in VB6? If not, how would you do this search? Thanks,

Options Dialog with treeview - best practice? - all new

... Actually I decided for frames and it turned out to be a good decision: -
All controls on the frame go dark if the frame is set to visible = false - The
frame can be moved to the correct location with one statement, thus all
controls follow (much less programming) - A lot of controls are not a problem
during development, as the frames can be stacked and set to front easily - all
controls are reachable with "me.xxx" - less overhead Gunter ... - Fri,

How to get FileDateTime() info from a file located online? - 6 new
----------------------------------
The subject line just about says it-- I have an illustrated manual available
online that I update occasionally for one of my programs. I have an 'Update
Manual' button on the 'Help' form of my program, currently always visible,
that allows the customer to download the latest current online illustrated
manual. I would like for my program to check the FileDateTime() info of the
online manual to see if it's a newer document, and if it is, make the 'Update
Manual' button visible; otherwise, leave it invisible.... - Fri, Oct 29
