ELECTION: Collier County headquarters for Democrats and Republicans were beehives of
activity Sunday as exhausted and anxious volunteers made last-minute pushes to get the
vote out Tuesday.

ELECTION: On the eve of the biggest election in recent memory and with political
tensions stretched taut between two camps in a polarized nation, Collier County may
stand out in the normalcy that most election and party officials say they expect
Tuesday.

ELECTION: Americans may still suffer embarrassment and bitterness after it took weeks
of court challenges to decide the winner of the 2000 presidential election. But it was
those events, in part, that drew a top-level government official from Togo, Africa, to
Naples on Sunday to observe the American election process in the coming days.

FERTILITY CLINIC TO OPEN: Collier County is getting younger, enough to prompt the
arrival of a fertility center to aid couples in their quest to have children. A
reproductive endocrinologist who has operated a fertility center in Sarasota since
1997 is branching out to Naples, opening a similar clinic at 1152 Goodlette-Frank
Road. The Naples clinic is scheduled to open Nov. 15.

IMAGES IN TIME: People are looking to the past for a sense of romance, fashion
designer Gwendolyn Gleason says. They long for a simpler time, when life was more
beautiful, more refined, more elegant and feminine. And so Gwendolyn Gleason is on a
mission, to bring back those qualities to our lives. Last week at her studio in Old
Naples, she gathered a group of creative people artists Phyllis Pransky and Tom
Ross, and photographer Jack Megela.

MUSTANG BUZZ: Dean Hillestad wants the fire red metallic or the sonic blue metallic.
Dave Beatty and his wife Mary Beth went for black with a red leather interior. Chuck
Micele just wants his satin silver 2005 Mustang to show up. Buying the car was easy.
Choosing a color meant a tough decision. But the waiting game may be the hardest part.
Ford's newly redesigned Mustangs started rolling off the trucks two weeks ago to major
buzz and much fanfare. But for once, the Mustangs are moving slowly. The Mustangs are
getting to dealers a few at a time.

MONDAY NIGHT: The knock on the New York Jets, in spite of the best start in the
franchise's 45-year-history, is that they still haven't beaten anybody. Until last
week for the Dolphins, well, that was the truth in a more literal sense. Herm Edwards
says there's no such thing as moral victories, but when the division rivals meet on
the national stage tonight at The Meadowlands, the real ones might not mean much,
either.
