Sorry about that last post...replied to the wrong email.....

But as I have said before...we had a speaker at LOG....recently...and a
bunch of us were talking to him about this...he was one of the old Lotus
employees..

It was his job to order the badges..and he said that one day CC just asked
him to get different color badges...and he did. He also that it was better
because the black ones were cheaper...which is what Colin was always looking
for anyways.

Now...I don't know who was standing with me there...and I cannot remember
who it was..but I can picture the guy...sort of heavyset (aren't we all when
we get older)....white hair..and us standing in a reception room...toward
the back..on the right side of the room..

I think the latest information posted here supports this theory...it was
just a supply the cheapest part issue...that is all...


I like to believe otherwise....but what is true is true..what can you do?

Easy.  Black/gold was used for the Commemorative Esprit S2s (Andretti's
championship), and then for all production mid-83 until the advent of
the first "Wickens" badge in July 84.   Not exactly the same badge though.
