I guess that is my point. There are plenty of hot
springs around there where you can pay. Why do you
object to something that is free? Must everyone
pay because you don't like funky old hot springs?
Go to the pay places. I for one support Chief
Tecopa's desire to keep these free. Especially
when the community will gladly take care of the
springs.

These "poor folks" have been a drain on county
resources for many
years, the county is trying to get out of the hot
springs business,
and the resulting hassle, and financial burden. We
have been going to
Tecopa for more than 50 years, and if you wanted
to have a much
better camping/soaking experience, you had/have
other private
campgrounds to use. If you can drive down from
Washington or Oregon
to reach Tecopa you can also stay in one of the
other parks in town,
they all have hot water, These people you have
heart for cannot walk
to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, should we build
an Elevator for
them? I am a senior citizen myself, I have soaked
at Tecopa more
than most, I will not miss the old County hot
springs Campground and
the mess it had become. If it makes you feel
better to say you
have "Heart", why don't you pay for their soaks? I
myself, love using
the free hot ditch and looking for opals and
amythest crystals in the
desert around Tecopa, it is a very wonderful
place. The RV park in
Shoshone has its own Hot Springs swimming pool,
just 5 miles North.

Pahrump is still only 30 miles away, and if they
"poor folk" drive
down to the Slab City site out of Niland, CA they
can camp for free
yearround, with a hot shower and a hot soaking
pool. Near Holtville,
CA is the Hot Well Long Term Visitor Area or LTVA
for short, with its
own hot soak

By the way, Robin, how many of these "Poor Folks"
at Tecopa do you
know by name?
