Welcome to the PCMag.com Security Watch Newsletter. Every
week we bring you an overview of the current viruses, worms,
and other threats and the information you need to combat
them.

The big news this week is that we had one of those dreaded
"zero-day attacks": A new vulnerability (Click here:
http://ct.enews.pcmag.com/rd/cts?d=184-1237-14-56-53809-117497-0-0-0-1 )
that hasn't been patched and a new worm that utilizes it.
http://ct.enews.pcmag.com/rd/cts?d=184-1237-14-56-53809-117413-0-0-0-1 )
The vulnerability is a buffer overflow in Internet Explorer
and the exploit is in Mydoom.ag, a new mail worm. Don't
panic, it's not prevalent in the wild, but the new
techniques and absence of a patch should be of concern.

A new phishing attack uses a more aggressive e-mail hook,
demanding that the user follow the message's link or incur a
charge. We've got pictures of our Phish of the Week.

Top Threat W32/Mydoom.ag

Mydoom.ag is not a typical e-mail worm and not like previous
Mydoom variants. Instead of an attachment it sets up a web
server on the infected system and mails out links to that
Web server. Users who click the link become infected. Unless
they have installed Windows XP Service Pack 2.
