Hall Frustrated by Injury
John Hall normally responds with a growl when asked about his groin strain.
For three weeks,
the Redskins kicker directed reporters to the team's trainers
for any questions about his injury. Hall, normally a bubbly
fellow, had never missed a game in his seven-year NFL career.
And he was too distraught to talk about the injury. But after
missing his third consecutive game, Hall, 6-foot-3, 240-pounds,
spoke about his injury.
"I've never dealt with this so this is new for me," said Hall,
who is attending meetings and lifting weights with teammates at
Redskins Park. "I'm a little frustrated and annoyed in how long
it's taken. To never miss a game in your career and to all of a
sudden miss three is not
easy to take.
"I'm just trying to do what they tell me. They are taking good
care of me. I'm just trying
to get out there as fast as possible."
Hall, who has been replaced by Ola Kimrin, is expected to miss
at least another two weeks. One reason Hall has been frustrated
this season is because he inexplicably turned injury-prone.
Before the groin strain, Hall suffered a right hamstring pull
and left hamstring pull. Redskins trainer Bubba Tyer, who has
been on the job for more than three decades, said he never had a
player who pulled both hamstrings in one year.
Since replacing Hall, Kimrin has made three of five field goals.
Kimrin has shown promise but he doesn't have the reliability of
Hall, who has been one of the league's better kickers for
years.
Hall can't even practice his kicking motion.
"All I can do is stay focused," Hall said.
