Fred, Where you stayed was the very worst part of The Slabs. As in any "city" there are good places and bad.
If you went there the first part of October you were way too early for the regular Boondockers. Why on earth would anyone want to be there in October? Bad timing! There are many areas that are clean and good. Mostly only the less attractive ones are full time at the Slabs. The group I was with last winter were wonderful, most had good educations and had done well in employment in their life. I have been going there occasionally since 1980. Have only been able to stay any amount of time there last year and I can hardly wait to return. Kathy BS and Masters degrees. Not stupid.
