ICESOFT AND NEXAWEB WAX WHERE THE BROWSER WANES

Web browsers are wonderfully ubiquitous, but they offer substandard user
interfaces because they do little to anticipate what the user might
want. Most clicks require a round-trip to some distant server over a
sometimes dodgy Internet. To make matters worse, the browser is beholden
to the user, not the developer. It often prevents the server from doing
much except displaying images, a bit of text, and maybe a fancy bit of
multimedia -- and then, only if the right plug-in is installed.

WINDOWS XP SP2: A BANDAGE BUT NOT A PANACEA

know Microsoft has released Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2), the biggest
update ever to XP. You also know that it's supposed to fix the security

MEDIA GATEWAY WIDENS SCOPE

I knew the IQ1500 was special when the Versatel Networks engineer
supporting the machine used it to call SIP phones elsewhere on the
network. Soon, he was switching calls without using the installed PBX.
Then he started setting up conference calls without using the PBX.
Clearly, this was a lot more than just a media gateway.
