Hi Chad! My answers are marced with "#".
> I personally think we could find a good way beyond the single languages, > if we would continue this collaboration now and make a summarization after > every week in all language sites, because without summarization we must > start always new. So I would propose to make on every language site a > central topic, which pooling the actual state of the international Campaign > Wikia affairs, but which declare also, that nothing is finalize and all > ideas welcome. So every people (also with less time) can see, where we are > and can bring in good ideas. Many people have not the time to read all > forums, Wikia topics, list emails etc. Me too. I mostly need summaries, > because I work on several int. projects at the same time. "My first question on this is summaries of what? What specifically are we going to be tracking? Can you give me an example of a 'central topic'? There isn't really a central topic on English. Are you referring to something related to site development, or an actual issue that we can discuss?" # Summaries of the actual state of the international Campaign Wikia affairs - central topics could be "mission/goals", "guidelines", "sitestructure", "logo", "organisation", etc. - what ever we should collaborate now in a international frame on IRC meetings or in a int. project Wikia on the english site with a own forum. --- "Do you think we should come up with a mission statement separate from what Jimmy wrote up?" # Yes, because we have not clear the final goals and ways. This should be after collaborations arranged to Jimmy's general mission statement. --- "Actually, there is quite a bit that people can do between elections. Too many people believe that the vote is the definition of Democracy, and to me that's just the bare minimum. Party activism, issue activism, all the week to week work that occurs between elections is just as important as the election itself." # This is right Chad, but the most people have no interest on partys and issue activism is mostly a hard and a "little by little" work, because its hard to get the media attention, if you are not Greenpeace with popular actions on land or water :) So this is also a point we have massive to improve: Campaigns over Campaigns Wikia with a factual background and not only some opinions musst get the media attention in a short way through the international networking effect of the future Camapigns Wikia. So the people can create online national and international actions and can concert measures. Also the blogsphere is important. Our aim must be, that every popular campaign over Campaigns Wikia will get fast the world media and the internet attention. --- "I question whether we would be able to create unvarnished information without at least allowing candidates and campaigns to put their material on the table for us to look at and work on." # I think it`s ok, if we work on material from candidates and campaigns. The people from CW will be make this issues neutral. :) Today we are not so many people, but in the future there will be many people and I think they can also use such material. --- "I think we need to develop a way to easily link together points and counter points so that readers don't have to search far for an alternative viewpoint." #I agree. --- "And while I don't have the same historical instincts, I wonder if pointing out that extreme points of view come from a small minority and that they will not lead down a path that our global society really wants to go would help minimize their effects. I won't go into detail, but let's just say that certain political parties would probably jump at the chance to create a platform on our space, and we should instead encourage them to create their own wikia site, like the Libertarian Party did here in the United States. Then they can do whatever they wish (within the rules of wikia if hosted here, or with no rules if they choose to host it elsewhere) and all we will have is a link saying "If you want to learn more about the positions of this party, click here." # This is very good. That we will make. Very good. --- "I usually break down the effort to get people involved in political activism into three levels. Engage, Educate and Empower. I think Campaigns Wikia can be used to educate us all on what the issues are and what the various positions are within that issue. Then let people make up their own minds based on good information what they want to do." # This is right. Neutral informations have also informations beyond the parties, maybe from single scientist etc. With such informations beyond the old political modell of the confrontation between parties the people can read about new ways for a better world. Very good! Very good! I like this thoughts very much, what we can create with such neutral informations!! Because at the first time the people can read direct about new ways, new solutions, beyond the old partie issues! Solutions which waits in the drawers of so many intelligent people in the world, but which get no media attention and no political attention from the parties! Verry good. :-) --- "I believe the APOV policy, if approved by Jimmy Wales, would do most of what you are asking for here. Although having each campaign use our site as their primary forum would probably be beyond our scope. One candidate in Maine has already had their own wikia site created, although nothing much has been on there yet. I don't think the language sites should be used by individual campaigns, but should be a common hub for all campaigns to present their candidates and policy recommendations." # Yes, its right. For deeper campaign working they should have theire own wiki. I think this is also important fot the neutrality of the future CW. I think neutrality and neutral informations will be our greates weapon for taking back this world. --- "I also notice that you are being much more theme focused than candidate focused. That's a difference between the United States and Germany that I would love to explore further. I would love to see politics on our side of the Atlantic be focused more on values and policy rather than the charisma of this or that candidate, but our lives are being kept so busy with work that it's hard to maintain focus on the issues." # Ok. But I think we will manage it. :) Because CW will be based on neutral informations and not on the charisma of a picture from the candidate!!! ;) What we should also try: To bring the candidates more in her personal view of themes and not so much in her standart view inside of partys! This is also chain of the old political modell. But we need politicans WITH OWN convictions and ideas! That should be the future beyond the parties. --- "Ther general themes that we might show in the graphic: Debate Discussion global outreach" # Maybe we can bring in also two faces speaking together, but I dont know, if this would be too much for the logo. I will try some ideas in some days in my next logo round :) --- "Maybe a microphone or speaker could ansbe added to the box somehow?" # I will try it. :) --- And beyond the IRC Chat we should create, what I write in the Email for Dean, also a site on the english wikia for the international project collaboration, where all people, which are interested in the int. collaboration make a entry, who we are, from where, what we doing, languages we speaking etc., making dates for chats and where we can think together about documents, make votes and have a own forum for international project issues... Thankyou @ all! Ingmar :-) _______________________________________________ Campaigns-l mailing list [email protected] http://lists.wikia.com/mailman/listinfo/campaigns-l
