Very short trip this Easter as wished to avoid the usual queues and
delays around Leighton Buzzard over the Easter weekend. We left last
Wednesday after having touched up the paint on the port side and the
roof. Made stunning progress on the Wednesday to Grove Church, 13
miles and 27 locks in 8 hours just the two of us. Peaceful night at
Grove Church and then onto Cosgrove for Thursday night and a trip to
the Barley Mow. Headed back Friday stopping just above the 3 locks
at Soulbury and enjoyed very reasonable pub grub. To Bulbourne on
Saturday and visited the Anglers at Marsworth. Take note all real
ales buffs, they do very decent real ale and they also do 2 pint
take out containers and even give you a carrier bag to carry them
in! Great service. Sprung a pinhole leak from the water heating
circuit at the back of the calorifier. Simon had to improvise a
repair using a screwdriver, kitchen knife and plastic water bottle
(closed off circuit and refilled water in engine) as he'd forgotten
the tool kit. I must remember to check each time before we set off
that we've got everything as he's always forgetting something. Back
home yesterday after very slow progress due to a stunning amount of
very grumpy anglers, I gave up counting after 65, there must have
one every 100 yards virtually all the way home.
