UPDATE: BREACH ON GRAND UNION CANAL AT COWLEY
Following last Tuesday's breach on the Grand Union Canal at Cowley next to
Benbow Waye Lane Bridge 189 British Waterways today began emergency repair
works.
Dams have been installed either side of the damaged culvert and the enclosed
section of canal has been dewatered. Work to repair the damage is expected
to take up to a further two to three days. It is hoped the canal will
reopen to navigation late on Friday 28 or Saturday 29 April.
In the meantime, the canal remains closed to navigation between Cowley Lock
89 and Packet Boat Lane Bridge 190.
