We certainly have plenty of egrets down here in Hampshire, they are a relatively common sight all over the New Forest and the Avon valley. I don't recall seeing any on the Kennet, but did see one in a field near Stafford Boat Club during last years GIG, it was solo (usually in pairs down here in the sunny south) so might have been a vagrant.
