I see that there are a reasonable number of hire boats available
on the two "last minute" sites. However, it is time-consuming to
investigate these with slow mobile phone internet, and limited time.
We we thinking that we might be able to get an "up market" boat
at a last minute discount. By "up market", I mean something fitted
out better than the usual "holiday cabin" look - more like the fitout
of a private owner. Recommendations I've got in conversations so far
are the multi-base firms (Alvechurch, Anglo-Welsh, Black Prince, and
Viking - but don't see big discounts here), Napton Narrowboats (text sounds
good, but interior pictures lacking on their web site), and maybe
Canal Time.
Other suggestions, or further comments on the above, gratefully accepted.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE HIRED FROM ANY FIRM TO MENTION IT. Perhaps you
were impressed by a hire boat as it passed. Anything to help separate the
wheat from the chaff.
