Due to school aged children, our "big" trip is always in July / August.
We've seldom been significantly delayed by queues, thanks to cunning
timing and maybe luck.

Two years ago our trip took in Severn, S&W, Stourbidge canal, Dudley
canals, B&F, Coventry, N Oxford, GU, Stratford, Avon and back down the
Severn. We met precisely two queues: one at Glascote locks where a boat
was waiting in front of us, and one at Calcutt lock where a pair of
boats were waiting. We saw no other boats on the Hatton flight, which
with a 1700 start took 2h 30 min helped by an able wife and a mildly
lazy son. Our only holdup was from Eckington Bridge where our engine
died, terminally, and we had to hitch tows back home. Total of 200 and
something locks, queuing time about twenty minutes.

Last year we just did a short big trip, ambling up the Avon and back. We
met no queues at all.

Wassail!
