Ah, all becomes clear....  I understand your point.  It won't happen though. 
In all the years I went through there (and we boated on L&S for well over 10 
years), the bridge position is where the last person who moved it, left it - 
drivers left it over the lock and boaters left it back - mainly because (as 
we all know and love....) on the L&S you "leave the bl**dy gates open" 
(hooray!), so gates (or usually one gate - 'cos they are nice and very wide, 
and heavy...) open, all jump on boat and drive out.
