it may be time to have the sides over plated does anyone know a marina
where we could arrange for doing this sort of work ourselves as we were
thinking it would be perhaps cheaper to purchase the metal and arrange
for a welder to do the work with our assistance, has anyone done
anything like this themselves as we would welcome any advice and also
does anyone know a free-lance welder etc.

Streethay Wharf are 'specialists' (perhaps a little over-used as a
description these days ;-)) in stretching and (I've seen on their slip)
overplating. It might be worth giving them a call. They're not too far
from Napton in reality. They may well be willing to do a pull-out,
assessment and blacking-only if required (as detailed in your later
posting).
