1. OE6 (I can't remember earlier versions) can put the ">" in for you
(checkbox in the "Plain Text Settings") - *but* you need to set the system
to send mail in plain text only - in the "Send" tab of the options, and
don't check the "reply to mail in the format they were sent", because if it
arrives as HTML then you will reply in HTML!, then you can only top post and
get a thick line to the left of the original text -yuk...

2. Quote fix is a must IMHO. With care you even delete the OE link in the
start menu and replace it with a link to the quote fix launcher (one runs
the launcher, that in turns runs OE) - or like me you can put the link to
the QF launcher in Mailwasher, so after a quick spam clearout it starts OE
with QF. Also with QF the line colour is different according to the number
of "<" at the start - makes the interleaved answers even easier to spot.

FWIW I prefer bottom posts. Sadly I have to do the reverse at work! Bl**dy
Groupwise (I hate it even more than Outlook.... - it has only one minor
saving grace - for internal mail you can retract the mail before it gets
read, if you send in error)
