Usual disclaimer - no I don't work for them or get commission !.

One neat solution for external antennas I once saw was a aluminium
sheer about 50cm x 15cm with several external antennas mounted to it,
and it in turn was underneath a top plank of the cratch ten seem on
modern narrow boats, with holes in the canvas / top cratch cover.
Antenna feeders then went under plank and through glands in mounted in
toughened glass window and into the boat. That solved problem of
fixing them to the top of the boat and getting feeder through the
steel / lining. Also kept out of the way of centre lines etc.

Nowadays with wi-fi, GSM cellphones, DAB radios all being added to
existing boats it can be a challange fitting external antenna's.
