Well, yes and no, Bruce. It is probably more accurate to say the reason the early IWA battles didn't get talked about was that at the time and for many years afterwards it wasn't altogether clear whether they were of any consequence. It's only when it began to become apparent with the benefit of hindsight that what had essentially been a personal spat had greater implications that people became more curious to find out how they'd happened. In any case, I'm not certain that 'pain' is the word I'd use to describe the incendiary clash of egos between Rolt and Aickman even though Rolt's expulsion from the IWA and events at the Market Harborough National did drive him into depression. But they were both grown ups; they knew what they were doing. Maybe one day what happened on this list will attain an importance above the personal. Who's to say? A lot of history is like that.
