Greatly enjoyed looking at these old buses.I can distinctly remember running 
fit to burst trying to catch a 142 that had just left the old Granville Road 
swimming baths on its way to Cricklewood. That was the great thing, if you had 
the speed [sadly no more] you could grab that curly pole & leap aboard. 
                In fact this action solved a long-running argument that several 
of my work colleagues & I were having a few years later re the sequence in "The 
Italian Job" when the three minis drove up the ramps into the moving coach.  
People were saying that if the minis were doing 40 m.p.h. or so then they would 
not be able to stop in time before crashing through the front of the coach! 
Someone then pointed out that when you run for a bus (as I just described) & 
get on you immediately, relatively, have no forward motion & you take your seat 
rather than get familiar with the bus windscreen.   Collapse of argument!!
