Uncle Mort consumes an average of 1.5 to 2.0 l/hour of JP3 rotation across the year including tidal/river/canal and Mikunery. The cost pales into insignificance compared with moorings and the BW licence and will still be one of the smaller annual expenses post the demise of red diesel for boaters. I've got no quarrel with paying the same price for a litre of diesel whatever I choose to do with it. 2006/7 anticipated boating expenses include the following, mostly for the first time since the boat was new. 3x new lines, 3x new chimneys, new batteries x5, new bow button, re-black, partial repaint and much change out of £3K will be a pleasant surprise. Total expenditure on diesel over 4 seasons, barely more than £1k. Expenditure on automotive fuel by the Beeky family for same period, I'm sorry to report - over £16K. But we hardly fly anywhere !
