Because my destination is at the east end of the town, and the motorway junction at that end only has slip roads to and from the east. There is a town somewhere in W. Lothian where I once found myself, can't remember where exactly, which has a crossroads with lights. Not only does it have a seperate sequence for each of the four roads in turn, and a pedestrian phase, it also has an extra "all red" phase. Hmmm. -- Niall
