The canals-list yahoo group is set up to prohibit attachments - it
strips them out of any emails received.
The image in Ron Jones email was not an attachment in the generally
recognized sense - there was nothing in his email that indicated an
attachment. However what there was, was plain text that was a "uuencoded"
version of the image. Apparently, some (most?) people's email programs
recognized this and cooperatively converted it back to an image.
So it seems there is a flaw in Yahoo's armor. Makes one wonder what
else can be done with this technique. I will pose this question on
the yahoo moderator's board.
Anyway, if you didn't see an image in Ron's email, you should be
pleased. For those that did, perhaps there is a way to disable the
automatic decoding. If anyone knows how to do it for any common
email programs, please post that information here.
