I have consulted my copy of Electricity On Board*, and can find no
reference to NOT mixing battery types, although it is not normal
practice. The main problem I can see is that the different types
require different charging voltages, and if the charge is not
equalised across the battery bank there may be one battery type
discharging into another.

* Electricity On Board by Reinout Vader is a free download from
Victron Energy's website at

july2004.pdf

Therefore there are some sections which are intended to market
Victron's products, but it's still a worthwhile read if you're doing
anything electrical on board (and some of the theoretical bits do
help me get to sleep at night!).
