I'm glad you found the Daventry place helpful.  I was very grateful when 
Brian put me on to them.  I had an ex-car 55A alternator on Thorn and it 
overheated on the way back from the first BP NWF. The problem was at 
least partly because it spins the opposite way to that which it would 
have done in a car so the fan was less efficient.   I eventually cured 
the problem by fitting an extra (computer) fan in a cowling on the back 
to provide extra cooling.
