Thanks for the reply. (Funny though, I have Adrian's message in my inbox but Bob's hasn't shown up,.... yet) Anyway, that's what I did. I wanted a cost comparison to show our travelling companions. I used a company called "Telestial" http://www.telestial.com/ to buy SIM cards for the UK, Australia, and NZ. These are related to our trip (narrowboat on Oxford Canal, etc., etc.).
The SIM card is from "The Carphone Warehouse" and advertises: Domestic Calls Domestic rates throughout the UK are per minute for outgoing calls within the UK while you are in the UK. All incoming calls are free, regardless of where they originate. All outgoing domestic calls are 15p ($0.26 USD) per minute. Calls to check your voicemail are 10p ($0.17 USD) per minute. Domestic SMS messages are 7p ($0.12 USD) each. International Calls International rates are per minute for international outgoing calls while you are in th UK. All incoming calls, regardless of where they originate, are FREE! USA / CanadaAustralia / NZGermany / France / NorwayItaly / Greece / IsraelPoland / Spain / Sweden 5p ($0.09 USD)6p ($0.10 USD)7p ($0.12 USD)7p ($0.12 USD)7p ($0.12 USD) International calls will attract a 2.5p ($.05 US) per minute surcharge between 7pm - 9pm, Monday to Friday. All international SMS messages are 15p ($0.26 USD) per message. So,...... Bob's details are perfect and Adrian's warning is spot-on. Thanks, chaps. Eric
