Yes indeed, but be careful not to overdo it. I wouldn't recommend eating more than a couple of feet of 15mm tube per day. But seriously, copper is gently toxic, and kills all kinds of weedy little bugs before they do any real damage. But the downside is that copper does tend to stay within the human body rather than pass through the usual channels and can build up to levels which might have some long term effect on certain organs. That's why the Swedes have banned copper roofs and rainwater systems, because the run off gets into the water table and so into the mouths of their babies. Don't worry about your home pipes though because the copper surface is very quickly coated with calcium etc which insulates the copper from the water passing through it. If you've got plastic pipes indoors though you do need to worry because the calcium doesn't stick to the various compounds and so the carcinogens hop off into your teapot and give you a dose of the nasties. Even worse for the mickey mouse plumbing systems, just as you're about to run a well earned hot bath some squirrel or other famished rodent will decide to add a few bites of your polyethylene plumbing system onto his supper menu so you could end up with damp carpets. Thanks for mentioning it though Graham. Beeky, at Staffy's place ___________________________________ thorNET, http://www.thornet.co.uk
