Surely comments belong within the text next to the point they relate to.
Your original post touches on 4 or 5 slightly different subject in
each of its paragraphs. How are we supposed to know which of these
subjects is being replied to if the whole reply is top posted?

Agreed this is bad practice.

I've not checked but will guess that the majority on this list don't use
Outlook as their mail client (as you do according to your message
header.) It has a proprietary method of handling commented text which
isn't even fully compatible with Microsoft's other mail client Outlook
Express (though that has its own text quoting issues...) For what it's
worth I find mail clients that by default send every part of the message
to be sent twice (with the second HTML copy having wholly unnecessary
colours, fonts or embedded graphics, as Outlook does) tedious to
download, especially when I'm onboard with on a GPRS connection.

Yes I'd agree with your first sentence but I'd suggest that its the same
pub every night and I'm slowly getting to know the locals after 6 or 7
years here.

How about you stick around (but don't expect to be bought a pint!) and
tell us what you're launching next year so we've got something on-topic
to discuss. Its the least you can do now you've opened the top-posting
can of worms again for the first time in... ooh a couple of weeks ;-)
