I pressed send half way through by accident - but it hasn't made it to
the list yet - so I might get lucky. In any case, here is the email in
full:

I had trouble finding "Narrowboat" on the Ofcom Licensing system for
"ships" licences. I did wonder if I could get away with any of the
following:

BAR - Lighter
BLK - Bulk Carrier
BLS - Buoy Ship (I am male after all)
CA - Cargo Ship (I have a load of stuff on board)
CHA - Barge ('nuff said)
CHR - Trawler (always picking stuff up from the bottom)
CIM - Cement Carrier (patio slabs are made of the stuff ain't they?)
CIT - Tanker (bulk water, took over 2.5 hours to fill the other day)
CON - Container Ship (The previous owner used lots of these for storage)
CRO - Cruiser (well it does)
CTR - Cutter (if anything gets in the way)
DES - Destroyer (see above)
DRG - Dredger (more often than you would think!)
DRY - Dry Cargo (It's fairly dry inside)
DUN - Ketch(up)
ECO - Training Ship (You never stop learning)
ESC - Escort Ship (Escorted Sanity up the Thames....)
EXP - Research Ship/Survey Ship (Lots of exploratory cruising done last year)
FPS - Fast Patrol Ship (5mph is fast isn't it?)
FRM - Weather Ship (in all weathers)
FRT - Frigate (my attitude sometimes)
FRU - Fruit Carrier (when I remember to buy some at Tescos)
GEN - General Cargo
GS - Warship (no maybe not)
ICE - Ice Breaker (winter cruising)
INS - Inspection Ship (Always looking around)
MTB - Motor Boat (I have an engine in it)
NET - Pollution and surface clearance vessel (Been known to remove
rubbish from the canal before)
OIL - Oil Tanker (Nearly as big as the water tank)
PA - Passenger Ship (sometimes)
PHA - Lightship (well, for a ship it's not very heavy!)
PLT - Pilot Tender (so treat him gently)
PTA - Aircraft Carrier (Play Microsoft FlightSim occasionally - does
this count?)
RAM - Salvage Ship (Always keeping an eye out for anything useful)
ROC - Rock Breaker (see Dredger)
SMN - Submarine (nearly sank it on the Jam Ole with a weedhatch leek)
TPT - Transport
TPW - Forest-product carrier (Lots of wood inside)
VLR - Sailing Ship (in strong winds)
XXX - Unspecified (unspecified)
YAT - Yacht (must be, I moor at High Line Yachting!)

Guess which I selected! :-)

Cheers,

Mike
