I was with him on Justice a few years ago when I caught him talking to ducks
from the side hatch. Suddenly there was a shout of "Look what I've got" and
I turned to see him nestling a duck in his arms. Apparently he had until
then frequently been able to scoop very young ducklings out of the water,
but on this occasion it was a fully-grown duck.
The duck was of course released, but I have the feeling that this was only
on account of a ready supply of oranges. He claims that he honed his art as
a service to ducks - a duck, once caught, will never allow itself to be
caught again.
