Well, I bought some, and have been using it over the last week. I've
only lifted the hatch 3 times, but each time it has sealed with only
the tiniest amount of pressure. It's good stuff, and I can recommend
it. The Neoprene stuff is softer and more rubbery than the normal
stuff - if you have problems buy some now!

ps. Viking Marine in Goole said they had the Neoprene stuff also, but
not actually been to have a look yet.
