Wednesday 20th June

Pre dinner drinks at Staffy towers last night was followed with curry at a
nearby restaurant, which was extremely good. As we were having dinner and
enjoying a joke or three, the rain started and was monsoon like for a few
minutes then stopped. That's it we thought, but no. As we left the
curryhouse, it was raining so hard the droplets were bouncing off the canal
and towpath. It's only 200 yards or so from the restaurant to LT and even
with a brolly we got soaked. In that short time the canal water had risen
and was level with the towpath. The rain continued for some time. At 6.15am
I was woken with the sound of a text on the mobile. It was Staffy, reporting
from the 17th floor of Staffy towers, where he has a good view of the narrow
locks. The red lock light was on and we were going nowhere. At 8am we
wandered down to the river and could see how high it had been overnight. The
BW office staff confirmed we were here for the long hall, maybe 4 or 5 days.
Phone calls followed to rearrange work days off and mooring arrangements. A
walk around the town, with a very good mucky breakfast thrown in filled in
some time till our son the younger came over for a visit with out
granddaughter Holly. Mid afternoon my son ran me back to Evesham to collect
my car so I can commute to work each day. The situation is a mess. There
will not be much to report for the next few days. Will update when we start
to move again. TV picture is passable on some channels. Ho hum.
