ISTRT smoking in theatres has been banned by the theatres  themselves or 
local bylaws for many years. However smoking has been allowed  on stage 
provided 
it is relevant to the performance and is maintained for the  shortest time 
possible. This, presumably has been superseded by the new  regs.
