Along this section the canal runs alongside the railway, with the towpath between the two. I cannot recall any access to the towpath in this area between just south of Salvage Turn and Selly Oak. So I think the best you can do is to walk through the campus, and peer over the bridge parapet to see the canal. There is a bridge that crosses the canal near the campus (near the winding hole) and IIRC there is a sign on the Uni side which refers to the Uni boating club, so I suspect there must be some sort of access. I went to an AGM of the Pre-school Playgroups Association (as was) there a few years ago. It was only when we were leaving that someone told us there was a canal running alongside. Doh!
