Winter's coming and meetings are restarting. I'm all behind as I usually try to give a few days notice of events.
Tomorrow, Thursday 4 October: A talk on archaeology matters to be given by Matthew Reynolds of Cirencester College. There will be a brief introduction by David Viner, BW's Heritage Advisor for Regeneration, and he will be mentioning some of the archaeological features of interest on the Cotswold Canals. Matthew Reynolds is an excellent speaker, and has been on the telly (Timewatch I believe, but as I seldom watch the thing I couldn't comment) The meeting starts at 19:30 at the Gloucester Yacht Club, Gloucester Docks, GL1 2EH (near the regimental museum). Non-members are welcome. Free entry. Later in the month..... In conjunction with the Gloucester Docks Regeneration Group, a boat gathering is being organised in the Docks on the weekend of October 27th-28th. This originally started as a social event to commemorate last year's DEFRA Cuts protest and now coincides with the Gloucester Tall Ships '07 event (see <http://www.gloucestertallships.co.uk>). There are at least three tall ships scheduled to be arriving for the event. Come along, with or without boat. There'll be entertainment throughout the day, and in the evening in the Gloucester Yacht Club and its marquee outside. Information on the above events from Martin Turner - 01291 421 422 - or by email to me. (it would be useful to know how many boats are joining us so that we can sort out moorings!)
